Dicksonia antarctica — Tasmanian Tree Fern (Straight Single Trunks)

Soft feature ferns with timeless sophistication.

Our Dicksonia antarctica are ethically rescued from Tasmanian forestry prior to land clearing and supplied with their own official conservation management tag, ensuring fully compliant and responsibly sourced specimens.

These straight single-trunk specimens showcase the beautifully textured, Cuban-cigar–like trunk and lush green fronds the species is renowned for, creating an immediate sense of maturity and cool-climate rainforest character within the landscape. Our stock typically ranges from 1 m to 3 m trunk height, with larger statement specimens available on request.

In the wild, Dicksonia antarctica thrives in moist, sheltered rainforest gullies across Tasmania, where mature plants can exceed 5 m and, in exceptional old-growth conditions, reach heights of up to 15 m — a testament to the longevity and ancient heritage of this remarkable species.

In landscape settings, these tree ferns provide the same natural beauty while also supporting ecological planting schemes, offering habitat for mosses, orchids, epiphytes, and other shade-loving companion plants.

All specimens include official Tasmanian management tags and licensed salvage documentation.

A refined and enduring addition to shaded gardens, courtyards, rainforest plantings, and naturalistic landscape designs — and another standout within our premium Dicksonia antarctica collection.
