Phoenix roebelenii (Dwarf date)

Phoenix roebelenii – Dwarf Date Palm
Compact • Hardy • Elegant

The Phoenix roebelenii, or Dwarf Date Palm, is a slow-growing and highly versatile palm reaching 3–4 metres in height at maturity. Its graceful, arching dark green fronds add soft texture to any garden space, while short spines near the base of the fronds provide a touch of structure and definition. The slender trunk remains neat and compact, making it ideal for small gardens, borders, or containers.

Thriving in full sun to deep shade, this palm is remarkably adaptable and suits a wide range of garden conditions. It prefers well-drained soil, handles dry spells once established, and offers good tolerance to both heat and cold—a reliable performer in warm temperate to subtropical climates.

Perfect for both in-ground planting and pots, the Dwarf Date Palm is a favourite for poolside gardens, courtyards, and tropical-themed landscapes. Whether used as a single feature or in groupings, Phoenix roebelenii delivers elegance, structure, and resilience with minimal maintenance.
