Trithrinax acanthocoma

Trithrinax acanthocoma

A prehistoric and extremely rare specimen palm, Trithrinax acanthocoma is a true statement piece and a once-seen, never-forgotten plant. This is a palm few will ever encounter — and one that no one else will have in Australia.

Native to the subtropical regions of South America, including Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina, this medium-sized solitary palm is instantly recognisable by its distinctive woven fibre trunk, formed from retained leaf bases and old spines. The result is a raw, sculptural texture that gives the palm its ancient, almost fossil-like presence.

Well suited to Sydney conditions, this specimen is presented in a 400 L bag with an impressive 1.5 m clear trunk, making it ideal for feature placement where scale, rarity and form are paramount.
